DISCOP Istanbul with success

Los Angeles / Organizers of the DISCOP markets today announced that 511 delegates, representing 283 companies from 39 countries, took part in the inaugural edition of DISCOP Istanbul which wrapped this week. The first DISCOP Istanbul welcomed 142 companies who attended the 3-day market to buy television content, with 32% coming from the Greater Middle East and North Africa, 33% from Turkey and 35% from Central Asia, the Balkans and Caucasus.

112 companies attended DISCOP Istanbul as content sellers, 91 of them with exhibits and with a vast majority of them reporting signed deals already in place after the first day of the market. “Despite the current tensions affecting some of the targeted countries,” says Patrick JUCAUD, General Manager of BASIC LEAD, the organizer of DISCOP markets, “a vast majority of our participants reported significant deal activity.

These great results underscore the importance of DISCOP’s geographically focused and meetings centric market formula”. Other participating companies included regional advertisers, media buying agencies and independent producers.

The second DISCOP Istanbul is already set to take place from 28 February to 1 March 2012. Close to 2500 participants took part in the DISCOP calendar of events organised in 2010, demonstrating the growing importance of world regions such as Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East for audiovisual content business.
