DISCOP AFRICA is a hotel-based, 3-day, matchmaking and networking event promoting audiovisual content distribution, production and funding in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The third edition of DISCOP AFRICA will take place from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 February at the PULLMAN TERANGA hotel in Dakar, Senegal.

This forthcoming DISCOP AFRICA will once again target Sub-Saharan African free and pay television platforms fueled by the joint effects of the rapid growth of digital television services, the proximity of the FIFA 2010 World Cup, which takes place this year in South-Africa, 300 million mobile users, and the first undersea fiber optic cable that went live in East Africa, marking the beginning of an era of faster and cheaper broadband connections.

Close to 150 qualified, decision-making, acquisitions, programming and business development executives cable and IPTV operators are expected to take part in DISCOP AFRICA in February, alongside close to 100 international suppliers of film, finished programs, formats and packaged TV channels.

Advertisers and their advertising agencies will also be attending DISCOP AFRICA, looking for branding and
sponsorship opportunities related to formats and SMS-based interactive content.

Participants (*) are grouped into FIVE distinct categories according to their declared business activity at DISCOP AFRICA and must each acquire an individual MARKET BADGE priced between 300€ and 800€ to attend the event:

  • CONTENT PRODUCER
  • ADVERTISER
  • VISITOR

All participants have access to a number of privileges, including:

The DISCOP AFRICA 3 program will be packed with conference sessions, professional workshops, and networking events. The key questions we will address at this edition will be:

  • How can we support quality local and international content by fighting piracy?
  • Can health and educational content also attract wide audiences and revenue?
In addition, a series of 3 training and case-studies workshops specifically aimed at African audiovisual content producers will cover the marketing, funding and distribution of programs "MADE IN AFRICA."
  FOCUS ON CAMEROON

In our support and promotion of intra-regional business, we will use the occasion of each DISCOP AFRICA to introduce one country represented at our market. Cameroon will be put in the spotlight at DISCOP AFRICA 3 as we welcome broadcasters, producers, and advertisers from Cameroon to represent their country's dynamic audiovisual and advertising industries.

Key players in Cameroon's audiovisual and advertising industries will present their strategies and what partnerships and content they hope to find at DISCOP AFRICA during a thematic breakfast to "Discover Cameroon."

An in depth study of Cameroon's audiovisual sector will also be available in the DISCOP AFRICA 3 edition of DISCOP LINK.
